Supervisor of Case Management

Position Title:                          Child Placement Management Staff

Supervisor:                             Child Placement Administrator

Position Responsibilities:          This position is responsible for the oversight of assigned branches and all workers, families, and children involved. 
 
Educational Requirements:
A Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or human services related field.
 
Experience Requirements:

Two years of experience working with at-risk youth and families involved with a Child Placing Agency, as well as a basic knowledge of trauma and resolution.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with youth, families, other agencies, community professionals, and New Horizons’ staff.

  • Must demonstrate mastery in assessing youth and family members for services.
  • Must recruit foster parents and evaluate their suitability as caregivers.
  • Must have excellent training skills and strong leadership abilities.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to continue learning through supervision, continuing education, and experience and work cooperatively using a team approach.
  • Must be able to provide properly documented supervision and assure that agency philosophy and policy are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Must show the ability hold self, staff, and foster parents accountable to the minimum standards and in any best practice that keeps the children safe and avoids risk.
  • Must supervise and assure completion of all documentation assigned to the branch in a deadline focused manner in the different electronic client management systems present.
  • Must have proper parenting techniques and an ability to teach and communicate them to staff and foster parents.
  • Must have the willingness and ability to work collaboratively with biological and foster families to find solutions to problems, as well as crisis intervention skills.

Working Conditions:

This position will work directly with foster parents, legal guardians, and conservators while giving sound direction to CPA staff and receiving direction from the Director and Executive level staff when needed. This position is expected to properly communicate while independently making decisions that keep kids safe and assuring that all standards are met by their team. The position will also work directly with youth with behavioral problems most likely attached to trauma experienced. A reliable personal vehicle is required for travel in the assigned region and to the main office in Abilene at times at a reimbursed rate.

Confidential Information:

Child Placement Management Staff will have access to confidential records including youth files, foster care records, and foster parent information. Must maintain confidentiality and follow policies related to personnel records and client records. This is includes the encryption of all outgoing documents and/or emails with client identifying information.

Key Expectations/Responsibilities:

  • Child Placement Management Staff must have and document at least 10 monthly supervision conferences per year with each branch employee under their supervision who performs child placing activities.
  • Must show consistent management of documentation and responsibilities of their staff and the ability to identify and correct errors on an ongoing basis.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to empowering others to solve their problems.
  • Must have ability to establish a respectful relationship with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence.
  • Must show the ability to work collaboratively with other personnel and/or service providers and professionals.
  • Must maintain a caseload when necessary while adhering to all State Minimum Standards and New Horizons’ policies.

Training and Supervision

Attend all relevant in-service training offered at New Horizons to expand knowledge of services and the application of clinical skills.
Communicate regularly with supervisor and seek supervision when appropriate.
Adhere to the philosophy of New Horizons.
Complete assignments on time.
Respect the dignity and worth of clients and foster parents while seeking permanency for kids through reunification or adoption.
Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
